AI & Responsible Technology Use Policy
How FCO uses AI and technology responsibly, and what is expected from students, educators and volunteers using AI tools.
FCO Assessment Foundation conducts AI awareness and future-skills education, and uses technology within its programs. This policy sets out how AI and digital tools should be used responsibly by FCO and by everyone participating in our programs.
Responsible Use of AI at FCO
Where AI tools support content preparation, analysis or operations, their output is reviewed by an appropriate member of the FCO team before it is used. AI is treated as an assistive tool and not as a replacement for human judgement in educational decisions.
Accuracy and Human Oversight
AI-generated information may contain errors, omissions or outdated content, and should be reviewed by an appropriate human before being relied upon for important educational decisions. Assessment evaluation, results and certificates remain subject to FCO's methodology and human oversight.
Bias and Fairness
AI systems can reflect bias present in their training data. Where AI supports educational content or analysis, we take reasonable care to check for unfair or stereotyped output, particularly in relation to gender, region, language, disability and socioeconomic background.
Privacy and Student Data
Personal or identifiable student information must not be entered into public or unapproved AI tools. Any use of technology involving student data must follow our Privacy Policy and Data Retention & Security Policy.
Academic Integrity
Using AI to answer questions, generate responses or obtain assistance during an assessment where it is prohibited is treated as a breach of the Assessment Policy. Where an activity permits AI use, this is stated clearly along with how it must be acknowledged.
Expectations for Educators, Volunteers and Community Members
- Verify AI-generated educational content before sharing it with students
- Do not present AI-generated material as verified fact or official FCO guidance
- Do not use AI to profile, rank or make judgements about individual students
- Protect student data when using any digital tool
Deepfakes and Manipulated Media
Creating or sharing manipulated images, audio or video of students, staff, volunteers or the organisation is prohibited. Consent is required before an individual's image, voice or likeness is used in any AI-generated or edited content, and awareness of manipulated media forms part of our digital-safety education.
Reporting Misuse
Suspected misuse of AI or technology in connection with an FCO program may be reported to support@fcofoundation.org.
